Join Hope Mendrin of Hope’s Artisan Bread in this hands-on class where we learn the steps to develop and maintain a sourdough starter. Hope will explain the health benefits of organic and local wheats and the importance of natural fermentation. Say no to commercial yeast and learn how it impacts gluten structure and its digestion. A fun and educative class to broaden your baking skills and knowledge. Who knew baking could be so much fun and nourishing?
Each participant will create a sourdough starter to take home and how to maintain it for future baking.
Students will take home a sourdough dough starter and a conservation jar.
Must be 16 or older to attend.
Casual attire. Aprons and water will be provided.
