Although this is an American Classic, Jenna Leurquin added her international touch to the French silk pie by developing a recipe that would involve different textures and pronounced flavors. This pie is perfect to be shared with friends and family as the combination of chocolate and vanilla flavors pleases adults and children alike.
The JL French silk pie starts with a shortbread pie crust that is baked with a thin layer of almond cream. Once cool, the crust is filled with a Belgian dark chocolate pastry cream. We then pipe half of the pie with a mascarpone vanilla whipped cream. To finish, cocoa powder is sprinkled atop the whipped cream.
